International Youth Day: Green Skills for Youth Towards a Sustainable World

International Youth Day is celebrated on August 12 each year to recognize the efforts of the world’s youth in enhancing global society. It is an opportunity to recognize the valuable role that young people play in building a better future for all. This day also serves as a reminder of the challenges that young people face, including unemployment, poverty, and discrimination.

The theme for International Youth Day 2023 is "Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World." Green skills are “knowledge, abilities, values, and attitudes needed to live in, develop and support a sustainable and resource-efficient society”.

International Youth Day is an important opportunity to recognize the diversity and richness of the experiences of young people around the world. It is a day to celebrate the unique talents, perspectives, and contributions of young people from all walks of life.

Today's generation of youth is the largest in history, with more than three billion young people under the age of 30. Being half of the world's inhabitants, a healthy youth generation has an unmatched potential to contribute towards the betterment of our society.

As we celebrate International Youth Day, we must also renew our commitment to investing in young people and supporting their aspirations. We must work to create opportunities for young people to learn, grow, and thrive, and to ensure that they have the resources and support they need to achieve their goals.
