Earth Day 2022: Invest In Our Planet
Earth Day, celebrated on April 22 annually, is the largest secular observance in the world. Earth Day and aims to stimulate awareness and appreciation for Earth's environment. The United Nations calls the event International Mother Earth Day.
This year’s theme is “Invest In Our Planet.” The idea behind this year’s theme is to inspire governments, corporations, and private citizens to take tangible steps toward following more sustainable practices, and taking more of an active role in the Earth’s wellbeing. Earth Day 2022 is celebrated every year to acknowledge climate change and to state consciousness about the same all across the globe. This day is an opportunity to bring millions to connect and discuss problems like pollution, deforestation, and more.
The April 22 Earth Day, founded by Senator Gaylord Nelson, was first organized in 1970 to promote ecology and respect for life on the planet as well as to encourage awareness of the growing problems of air, water, and soil pollution.
Earth Day is celebrated to acknowledge climate change and spread awareness about the same all around the world. According to earthday.org, Earth Day aims to “Build the world’s largest environmental movement to drive transformative change for people and the planet.” The movement’s mission is “To diversify, educate and activate the environmental movement worldwide.”
Earth Day is widely recognized as the largest secular observance in the world, marked by more than a billion people every year as a day of action to change human behavior and create global, national, and local policy changes.
