ADRA Bangladesh Inaugurates Technical Training Center to Empower Vulnerable Women in Dhaka
ADRA Bangladesh has officially inaugurated the ADRA Bangladesh Technical Training Center as part of its SSWIM project, designed to enhance the economic opportunities for vulnerable women in the region in partnership with KOICA and ADRA Korea. The ceremony, which took place on 27 October 2024, marks a significant step towards empowering women through skill development and vocational training.
The SSWIM project aims to equip women with essential skills in various trades, ultimately helping them secure stable employment and increase their household income. The center will offer a range of courses, including industrial sewing, mobile servicing, and beautification, tailored to meet the demands of the local job market.
Officials from ADRA Bangladesh and KOICA highlighted the importance of this initiative in addressing the socioeconomic challenges faced by women in urban areas. By providing access to training and resources, the project seeks to break the cycle of poverty that many families experience.
“We believe that empowering women with the right skills is crucial for their independence and the betterment of their communities,” said Allan Seunghwan Shin, Country Director, ADRA Bangladesh, during the inauguration event. “Through this training center, we hope to ignite a transformation in the lives of many women, enabling them to support themselves and contribute positively to society.”
As the ADRA Bangladesh Technical Training Center opens its doors, hopes are high that it will become a vital hub for learning and growth, fostering resilience and self-sufficiency among vulnerable women in Dhaka. The initiative aligns with broader efforts to promote gender equality and economic empowerment within the country.
