Covid-19: Food Relief Distribution for Needy Families across the Country

The coronavirus Covid-19 is such a fatal disease that forced us to live in uncharted territory. Many of our neighborhoods are unrecognizable from even a week ago.

Since the coronavirus has halted economic activities, the income of people all over the country has dropped. As a result, the poverty rate has gone up drastically during the Covid-19 outbreak.

One remarkably significant thrust is assistance, in terms of food items and other consumer requisites, for the survival of those whose livelihood has crumpled due to lockdown and movement restrictions. The farmers are not getting the price of their products as the supply system has broken down. In villages, small and medium food entrepreneurs are losing their capital.

ADRA in Bangladesh has started functioning effectively to reach out to the people in need in both rural and urban areas so they can build resilience against the deadly virus and stop the spread of the virus by taking preventive measures.

So far, ADRA has distributed food packages among 12000 families across the country in two phases. ADRA is working closely with its stakeholders and valued patrons to foster more funds in helping the affected people so they can better cope with the virus.

“We’ve lost our jobs. We have no work, no money. It’s difficult for us to survive. We’ve received food packages from ADRA. It’s a great help for us,” Khadija - a beneficiary from Community Empowerment Project (CEP) – Gouripur, Mymensingh showed her gratitude to ADRA in Bangladesh.
